John was recommended to me as I was having issues with ‘sleep maintenance insomnia’. From the word go, I felt comfortable and connected with John, all of which cemented my trust in him and allowed me to be open and transparent in our interactions. It is his calm demeanour coupled with his listening with interest approach that contributes to this. He is realistic, while emitting positivity in solutions to issues. A guide rather than a soothsayer. I was lucky to have him work with me on my sleep issues and would highly recommend his services.

Over the past few years I had been suffering from bouts of insomnia which became particularly acute over the past year. The situation was becoming very debilitating and to be honest, dangerous at times as I almost crashed my car falling asleep at one point.Medication was my go to treatment but I knew this was never a long term solution and my GP suggested CBT-I as a methodology that might work for me.This led me to John at Insomnia Therapy. He offered online sessions which suited me perfectly. Over the course of a few sessions he was able to deconstruct my particular situation, remove the anxiety and provided practical and effective solutions and steps to build up my sleep function and reintroduce good sleep habits.I know I’ll never be a champion sleeper. I never was. But I’m now back at sufficient levels of sleep to allow me to function properly and that is a blessing. Can’t recommend this therapy enough. If you are suffering you should definitely give it a try.

I recently had sessions with John, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From our very first session, he created a warm and supportive environment that made it easy to discuss my sleep issues.John took the time to thoroughly assess my situation. His knowledge of sleep disorders is impressive, and he explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand. After just a few sessions and following the advice from John, I started to notice significant improvements in my sleep quality, which I still use to this day.John also encouraged me to set a daily routine and explained the importance of this for sleep, which made a real difference! If you’re struggling with sleep issues, I highly recommend reaching out to John. His compassionate approach and effective techniques can help you with getting back on track with your sleep.

Following a sleep maintenance disorder which persisted for over 9 months due to long covid, CBT for Insomnia was suggested to me as an alternative to medication, and John was recommended.During the initial sessions, John provided an easy to follow programme to get my sleep back on track and I could see the benefit almost immediately. John’s advice and guidance throughout was key to addressing issues. I now get a good 7 to 8 hours sleep a night but I also have the tools should any issues reoccur. My only regret is that I didn’t find someone like John sooner and save myself a lot of sleepless nights. Highly recommended for any sleep disorders.

Before I started CBT for insomnia with John, I was completely exhausted. I was running on just a few hours broken sleep each night, struggling to get through the day and felt like nothing would ever change.I reached out to John and after a brief consultation I started my CBT. John helped me understand why my sleep was so bad and gave me a clear plan to help fix it. It wasn’t easy at first, but he supported me every step of the way. Through structured routine change and a change in mind set, patience and encouragement I’ve gone from barley getting by to feeling like myself again.I suppose the biggest result for me is I’ve gone from dreading going to sleep every night to looking forward to going to bed every night. I still have work to do but I finally believe I can get a good night sleep.
If you are struggling with sleep and feel like there is no way out, I can’t recommend John enough. It has been life changing for me.

Through a series of sessions, John provided practical suggestions and a plan to get me back on track over the course of a few months. Very grateful for the help and would highly recommend to anyone having similar issues

Before working with John, I would wake up four to five times every night and never sleep more than a couple of hours at a stretch. After six weekly online CBT-I sessions, I now sleep six-to-seven uninterrupted hours most nights and wake up clear-headed.John’s style is the ideal mix of empathic and structured. He listened closely, pinpointed the specific triggers behind my insomnia, and then customised every technique—from stimulus control to thought-reframing—so it felt natural for my personality and schedule. One example: John encouraged me to take a daily morning walk to help anchor my circadian rhythm. That simple change turned out to be a game-changer and is now a non-negotiable part of my routine.John’s guidance didn’t just fix my nights; it reshaped my lifestyle and mindset around sleep. I recommend him without reservation to anyone battling chronic insomnia.

When I first started working with John I had been suffering with chronic insomnia for 2.5 years related to my job. I had previously seen 2 therapists for talk therapy which didn’t help my insomnia and had been prescribed Phenergan as a sleep aid by my GP. I had trouble falling asleep consistently and my sleep-wake cycle was erratic. Some nights before work I wouldn’t sleep at all. This was affecting my concentration, mood and mental health.Through research online I learnt that CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia) is the first line gold standard treatment for chronic insomnia and is proven better than sleep aids. However, it is hard to get a therapist certified in CBI-I in Ireland. Luckily I found therapist John Duffy who specialises in CBT-I and provides his services online.During the therapy I learnt about my thoughts and behaviours in relation to sleep and how these were inhibiting my ability to fall asleep. John provided me with a sleep diary which helped monitor my progress during the treatment.CBT-I is a short treatment and now after only 7 sessions my insomnia is practically gone. I don’t take sleep aids and this therapy has also allowed me to stay in my job, which I enjoy! I can usually fall asleep within 15 minutes. I would like to thank John for his services and I would highly recommend him!!
